Stage 2 Focus

This term we have started our Problem Based Learning unit.  PBL focuses on Inquiry and problem-solving skills.  We have a special name for it called "Critical Thinkers Chest" - or CTC.  This happens four times a week for four hours (total) where we apply the Design Thinking model on a problem.

 

Design Thinking asks us to:

  •  Develop empathy and understand the needs of the people we are designing solutions for.
  • Define problems and opportunities for designing solutions.
  • Generate and visualise creative ideas.
  • Develop prototypes.
  • Test solutions and seek feedback.

This term our problem is:  "Sharing a room with other people can be a challenge".  How might we design a room so that it accommodates everyone's needs?

In Writing we have been focusing on writing informative texts on animals.  We've been researching our chosen animal by borrowing books from the library and viewing a range of texts such as videos and factual texts.
