Music

Last week a wonderful opportunity came our way. Members of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) had some free time on their hands and chose to come and visit us. The wood wind students got to attend a master class with the principal clarinettist, David Thomas. Cody Stephens, Alex Wong and Emma Holmes all performed in the masterclass and received comments from David on their performance. The audience was also briefed on breathing and general woodwind techniques.
Meanwhile our string students had three MSO members join their rehearsal to work with them. The string students were able to ask lots of questions and learned that even the best performers have times of performance anxiety.
It was a wonderful experience for all who attended with staff and students enjoying the visit and learning lots.
Swing Band Supper Dance
On Friday June 3rd the Swing Band will be holding a fundraising concert in the Wy Yung Hall for their up-coming trip to the Merimbula Jazz Festival. Patrons should bring a plate of supper to share at their table, soft drinks and their ‘dancing shoes’. There will be tea and coffee provided. Bookings can be made online.
Because it is a fundraising event, there will be a cover charge of $5 per head and there will also be a raffle.
