Respectful Behaviours within the School Community

In 2021 we announced the new Respectful Behaviours within the School Community Policy that was created for Northcote High.

The school council governance committee and working group have done a terrific job at updating and creating the following 3 documents which can be found HERE:

  • Respectful Behaviour Guidelines
  • Complaints Policy
  • Communication Guidelines

The new Respectful Behavior Guidelines aim to support parents/carers and staff to interact in respectful ways. This in turn creates a safe environment for staff to work in and sets expectations for parents / carers providing feedback to the school.

The updated Communication Guidelines is a resource to help parents/carers to know who to contact, for what type of query, and how best to contact them at the school.

The simplest way to get in touch, is to call the school during office hours.

For other times, or to put something in writing, we’ve set up a contact form. This can be found in the Compass Menu. This form allows the school to better help you with your enquiry. As with the info@nhs.vic.edu.au email address, enquiries are reviewed daily by one designated staff member in the office, and all correspondence is treated confidentially.

Why were these created? One of the roles of School Council is to maintain, review and update policy, as required by the school’s leaders. We also help the school to develop a number of guidelines, that support the policy. The guidelines are intended to help understand how to use policies, making them clear and useful resources for the whole school community. Thank you to school council, the governance committee and the working group (students, staff and parents) for all of your hard work ensuring that the school continues to regularly update important information for our community.
