Adolescence and Parenting
Northcote High School’s Student Services Wellbeing Team warmly invite our parents and carers to attend an online information session on Adolescence and Parenting presented by Associate Professor Katie Wood BBSc. (Hons.), Phd (Clinical), LaTrobe.
Katie is an Associate Professor and Clinical Psychologist at Swinburne University of Technology. She is the Course Director for the Master of Counselling and Master of Clinical Psychology Programs at Swinburne. She also teaches clinical psychology and counselling trainees. She earned her PhD at La Trobe University and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists. Previously, Katie worked at Albert Road Centre for Health where she was the team leader of an adolescent day program. She has also worked at Eastern Health Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. Katie has been in private practice for over 20 years, specialising in working with young people, their families and schools.
Presentation topics include:
- Adolescent development
- Parenting an adolescent
- Developing a positive relationship with your adolescent
- Managing family cohesion, boundaries and the challenges of modern family life
Attendees will be emailed a resource ‘Some tips for building and maintaining positive relationships and keeping family peace (most of the time)’ after the presentation.
Target audience
All parents and carers are welcome to attend.
