National Sorry Day Liturgy
St Philomena's reflected on and acknowledged National Sorry Day with a whole school liturgy on Thursday 26th May in the quadrangle. It was a solemn Liturgy with many students speaking and participating, along with Fr. Damien who read the Gospel. Marley Swan, Lewis Stokes and Jett Sampson led a smoking ceremony for students, staff and families to be cleansed.
A smaller group of students and staff then joined the local community Sorry Day ceremony at Pius X.
Reconciliation Week Bridge Walk
Along with community members, students from St Philomena's participated in the Moree Reconciliation Week Bridge Walk across the bridge to Jellicoe Park and back again to Rocket Park. After this, the painted-up and traditionally dressed Murri Yulu-Gaay dancers, performed proudly in front of a sea of community members.
Well done to our wonderful dancers and dedicated staff.
Reconciliation Week Assembly
On the chilly yet sunny Monday morning of Week 7, our whole school gathered in a yarning circle to mark the end of Reconciliation Week. Jaydah Duncan shared a heart-felt Acknowledgement of Country and Shirley Johnson shared a special story as we gazed over the Sea of Hands that had been contributed to by everyone.
