Year 8 Material Technology

This term, we have been working on designing a keyring using Design Space and 'Laurence the Laser Cutter' is working his magic. Students have been captivated while watching the process.

In preparation for our "Light of the World Unit", we are working our way through the design process. Currently in the ideation and prototype phase... we can not wait to test our designs. Prior to using the laser cutter, students tested their designs using the CriCut machines. 

Year 8 Mathematics

This term Year 8 have been completing a unit on Rates and Ratios. On Monday, the students were learning about speed and how to calculate average speed.  As a practical activity, in pairs, students ran 1km and were timed. They were asked to calculate their average speed in m/s and km/h. 

Tom Hall ran 1km in 4.16 minutes. Can you convert this into km/h?
