Dear Kingswood Community,
We have finally completed the beautiful mosaic outside the hall and I think you will agree, that it is both unique and stunning.
This piece of art was designed mostly by Monica (Year 6 2019), partially by Shakked (Year 6 2019) and colours by Jason (Year 6 2019).
I want to thank the Year 6 students for leaving such a beautiful legacy at the school which recognises our community and our Kulin Lands that we share.
I need to give a special shout out to the Galban family, who have given up several days of the January school holidays to donate their time to prepare, lay, grout and silicone the design into the ground. Alba has been instrumental in helping make many logistical decisions to bring the project to life. Thank you enormously.
The meaning behind the design.
- The Copperhead snake is a snake found in the Dingley area and is completed in the Australian Flag colours.
- The Manna Gum Branch is a tree found in the Dingley area and is completed in Torres Strait Islander colours.
- The Chocolate Lily is found in the Dingley area
- The Aboriginal flag sits behind the overall design and the earthy coloured edge represents our connection to the earth.
- The three aboriginal stars represent students, teachers and parents/guardians and the eight dots around them represent the 8 states and territories of Australia
- The outside yellow border encompasses our school value ‘A Place to Shine’.
Well done to all concerned and hopefully, it remains there for everyone’s enjoyment well into the future.
