Performing Arts – Catholic Performing Arts Festival 2017 Update
DANCE
Next Thursday 17 August all students in the Canon’s Hip Hop Crew and the Senior and Junior Dance teams will be gearing up to perform at the annual Catholic Performing Arts Festival at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. The students have been working very hard towards this big event and have been very committed, attending after school and Sunday rehearsals in preparation. I would like to thank the dedicated parents and guardians who ensure that the students attendance at rehearsals is possible. If you are interested in supporting the students and viewing the magnificent array of performances at CPAF, tickets can be purchased from ticketek:

MUSIC
There have already been a number of fantastic musical performances at this year’s festival ranging from solo acts, bands and ensembles.
Congratulations to the following students who have represented the College in solo performance so far:
- Samuel Eaton (Electric Guitar)
- Josephine Wong (Violin)
- Hayleigh Lucas (Cello)
A big congratulations must also be extended to the College Guitar Ensemble and the Certificate II and III Contemporary Bands (Teen Spirit and No Treble) for their performances at the Performing Arts Festival. Both ensembles received very good reports from the adjudicators and are to be highly commended on their efforts. Thank you to Mr Don Neander for his work as director of the Guitar Ensemble!

Drama Club perform at CPAF
The Junior and Senior Drama clubs performed at Prendiville College on the night of Thursday 28 July as part of the Catholic Performing Arts Festival. Both groups performed excerpts from the plays they have been rehearsing at school in preparation for Showcase and for the Independent Theatre Association’s, one act play festival.
The host college Prendiville College, complimented our students on their friendly demeanour and their support for each other. A member of the public commented on our student’s beautiful manners and said it was lovely to see. Both groups performed very well and should be very proud of themselves.
The next opportunity to see these talented students performing will be Showcase on Tuesday 5 September and then on Saturday 16 September, when both groups will perform the two full one act plays .
I look forward to seeing you there.
Ms K Hilton (Drama Teacher)
