Staff Recognition

Staff Recognition

On Tuesday 8 August representatives from Catholic schools attended a breakfast to celebrate teachers and staff who had given 30 and 40+ years of service to Catholic Education.  Five staff members attended.  Richard High was a teacher who was recognised for his 50 years of service. Listening to his speech outlining the changes he had witnessed throughout his career, staff were thrilled to hear him acknowledge his 5 years teaching at St Norbert College.

Commencing in 1972, St Norbert College was Richard’s second teaching appointment. In his speech, he spoke of the charism of the Norbertines and recounted memories of the ‘staff lunches’ held in the Priory. Richard was appointed by Fr. J. O’Donohoe, O.Praem and during his tenure he held the position of Senior Master - Social Science.  Richard witnessed the first lay Principal of St Norbert College, preparations for the introduction of female students and the planning for new buildings and facilities.

Catching up with him at the end of the event, he remembered his time at St Norbert College with affection, as well as past members, Brian Rogan, John Hulshoff and Kathy Jones.
