Year 8 & 9 Basketball

Year 9 Basketball
The Year 9 boys Basketball team embarked on their first carnival for Semester 2. St Norbert played against some fierce competition, in which the boys demonstrated a high level of resilience throughout the fixture. Their toughest game came up at the end of the day in the Grand Final against Southern River College. There were numerous lead changes throughout the game but it was St Norbert College who showed how valuable teamwork can be, winning the game by one point.
Well done to the Year 9 boys who represented the College in outstanding fashion. Combining their efforts with skill, teamwork and sportsmanship it proved to be a fantastic day and a well deserving win.

Year 8/9 SSWA
On Friday 28 July a select group of Yr 8/9 Specialised Basketball students participated in the SSWA Junior Basketball carnival held at Willetton Basketball Stadium. Going into the carnival the girls were confident that they had the ability to do well. With the first match against Clontarf, the girls started off slow but the defensive pressure lead by Kayla & Shenae Hartree resulted in some easy scoring opportunities. A continued defensive focus resulted in a positive start for the Canons, beating Clontarf. The results were much the same against Lumen Christi & Thornlie with the St Norbert College students working together and capitalising on excellent full court pressure. After going through the carnival undefeated a rematch against Clontarf was on the cards. Once again, the girls made the most of their scoring opportunities and worked hard on defense which lead to the win. The students have now advanced to the SSWA State Junior finals which will be held later in the Term.
