Mother's Day Stall Update

Mother's Day is celebrated on Sunday 10th May.

For the first time in many years, the traditional NMPS Mother's day stall presented by the Parents and Friends Association will need to be cancelled.

However, we would like to suggest some other ways that the students of our school can create special treats and activities for all of the special women in our lives.

Isolation-time Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Breakfast in bed

Put the kettle on, make up a tray, get some flowers from the garden and make up a special morning surprise. Don't forget to make sure you allow a sleep-in. When she is awake,  deliver a delicious breakfast or simply a cup of coffee or tea (her pick) for her in bed.

Make a posy

Flowers can be difficult to find at this time of the year but you don't need special or expensive flowers to make a delightful posy. Head out to the yard with some scissors and snip some interesting foliage from around the yard. If you can find some flowers, include them but remember to make sure you cut with a reasonable length of stem so that you can make up a posy.

Once you have collected a handful of items, bring them back inside and choose some of the tallest, straightest items to make up the middle. Add pieces of your pick around the outside of your starting posy to build up more bulk. Remember to try to balanced as you add items.

When you are done, tie a piece of string or a rubber band around the whole lot then place in a vase with water or wrap them up in some paper for special delivery.

You could even make up a posy of herbs if you have a few choices in your garden.

Bake some scones and set up an afternoon tea.

Enjoy some delicious scones together straight from the oven. Put on a pot of tea and take some as a family to enjoy the afternoon together.

A Special Walk

Go for a walk together. Head outside and explore the neighbourhood.

Her- Story History

Interview mum, grandma, your special carer in your life and find out more about her and the things she loves. Here are some suggestions, we're sure you can think of some more.

  • what is your favourite colour?
  • what is your favourite activity?
  • where have you enjoyed living most in your life?
  • what was your favourite activity at school?
  • what do you love to eat?
  • how did you choose my name?
  • what is your favourite thing about me?
  • tell me about your mum?

Make a personalised card

Some of our NMPS students have made a pop-up card for their mum using a tulip template they found online. You can make a similar one or make one of your own design. Fill your card with love, tell your mum or special carer what it is that you love about them.

Make a verbal card

Sit mum down and tell her what you would write in a card for her. Tell her all about why you love her and what she means to you. Or you could record a video of a special mother's day message for mum or the special carer in your life. Tell her all about how she helps you, what she tells you and the favourite meals she cooks, song she sings or books she reads for you.

Cook dinner for your mum and do the dishes after.

Gift Some Relaxation

Offer mum a bath or a massage or a chance to relax. She might like an afternoon nap or a chance to watch a movie together as a family. Tell mum - it is her choice!
