Writer's Notebook

7B and 7O writers workshop in action! Students are busy personalising their notebooks! A brilliant and supportive community of writers being developed.

The Writer's Notebook is a program designed to allow students to explore writing in a low stakes environment then builds a sense of collaboration and a writing community. Through a series of short, focused mini-lessons, students will explore the creative process of developing ideas and then how to craft their writing using the 6 +1 Traits of Writing.  Students will learn to take control of their drafting, developing an understanding of what it means to consider the writing of others and to provide thoughtful comments and support. They are learning that writing is not simply an assignment for a grade. They are learning that writers teach one another.

Japanese

Miss Brown is introducing the students some new words in Japanese.  Soon they will be practising sentences.

Digitech

‘Year 7 Digitech students are putting some of what they’ve learnt into action to develop robots. Students have been challenged with a short inquiry project to ‘make a useful robot’ which saw small groups each combining their knowledge of programing with Lego techniques kits to create a useful robot. Digitech students were successful in creating everything from tow trucks to robotic sweepers.’
