Ms Strickland
Ms Strickland, a Maths and English teacher travelled the world, she liked our students so much on placement that she decided to come back to CSC.
Ms Strickland grew up in Mt Eliza on the Mornington Peninsula with her parents and 3 siblings. They spent the school holidays either camping at Wilsons Prom or at her grandparents’ house in Donald. She absolutely loved school and knew she wanted to be a teacher when she started High School but she didn’t want to go straight into teaching, so she studied a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) at the University of Melbourne. During the last year of her course, she studied abroad at the University of Virginia in the United States – it was such an amazing experience and it was then that she realised how big the world is.
When she finished Uni, Ms Strickland worked full-time at Woolworths to save enough money to move to London. She lived there for two years and travelled all around the UK and Europe. Living in London was the best experience of her life so far. When she returned home she began her Masters of Teaching.
It was a lot of work but she balanced it out by going travelling during the holidays to places like Vietnam, the Philippines and back to London to see all her friends. She found it really hard to say no to new opportunities and experiences. Ms Strickland was offered a job at CSC, she couldn’t say no, especially when she already knew how great of a school it was!
