Creative Arts Exhibition

Opening Night, winners announced

Talent showcase

What a wonderful night it was last Tuesday, when the Creative Arts Exhibition had its opening night in the Xanten Performing Arts Centre. As expected, there was a great turnout of parents, students and friends, all there to show support to our amazing exhibitors. Our guest judge this year was Mrs Eloff, currently on maternity leave, who graciously accepted our offer to judge the exhibitors – a very difficult task! Mrs Eloff had the honour of choosing the top three award winners from the entire exhibition. Congratulations to the following students who were acknowledged on opening night:

3rd Prize - Meron Desta (decorated cake)

2nd Prize - Catherine Laurel (comic sketch)

1st Prize - Jennifer Lewis (sketch portrait)

As acting principal, Ms Rainford had the honour of choosing the recipient of the Principal’s Award, which was no easy task. After much deliberation, Ms Rainford chose the winner to be:

Principal’s Award

Winner - Portrait of Cinderella - Jennifer Lewis Yr 12, Art Club.

Special commendations from Ms Rainford to the following four exhibits, which were also in contention for her award.

Nicolas Navarro - Pop Art

Chanelle Min - Textiles hoodie outfit

Molly Williams  -Watercolour

Cooper Edwards -  MDT Wooden Chair

Congratulations to all students who had a piece selected for inclusion in this exhibition.

Many thanks, as always, to the teaching staff who assist the students in their creative path. Special thanks to Ms Amanda Marsh and Mr Craig Mecham, pivotal in setting up the exhibition for us all to enjoy.
