The final ensemble performances for this year’s Catholic Performing Arts Festival were that of the College Concert Band at Sacred Heart College on Friday, 27 August and the College Chorale at Trinity College on Tuesday, 31 August. The College Concert Band performed two songs, Lost Lady Found and band favourite Pirates of the Caribbean. The College Chorale also performed two items - Banaha and Oh Happy Day - conducted by our Chorale Director, Ms Elysia Murphy. Both ensembles were awarded a Certificate of Excellence for the Concert Band and Secondary Choral Singing sections of the Festival respectively. An incredible achievement. Over the last two weeks of the festival, we have also had a number of solo performances for guitar and piano and congratulations to them for representing the College.
The final concert of the festival was held at RAC Arena on Monday, 13 September which was a showcase of the best of the best from this year’s festival. At this concert, the students were acknowledged as the finest in their fields, and it is my pleasure to announce that St Norbert College has taken home its first shield since 2016, with Grace Edmonds (pictured right) awarded the Archbishop Hickey Award for the most outstanding student across the state in the Secondary Bible Reading section with her performance of Marks Of The True Christian. In addition to this incredible achievement, Thomas Rogers was also recognised at the Final Concert as the recipient of the Catenian Assosciation Scholarship for his Outstanding performance of Anthropology by Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, beating all students across the state in the Secondary Woodwind Solo/Duet and Brass sections of the Festival. Well done to Grace and Thomas!
Congratulations again to all students for your hard work throughout the festival.
The annual Angelico Exhibition took place from Monday 9 August to Friday 27 August at the Forrest Centre, Perth, showcasing the best work of students from across the state. Congratulations go to the following students for being selected to participate in this public exhibition through their attention to detail, quality of production and technical skills.
Well done to you all on your fantastic achievements!
