Graduation information

As Term 3 draws to a close, Year 12 students begin to realise that their Class of 2021 Graduation is only a few weeks away. For some this will bring feelings of excitement, for other a sense of loss, but for all students it is the start of an exciting journey into the adult world. The final day of Year 12 classes on Wednesday reflected this mixture of both smiles and tears as a result of the departure.

Year 12 Graduation takes place on Friday, 22 October (Week 4.2) commencing with the traditional Year 12 breakfast and ending with the Graduation Mass and Ceremony later that night. In the lead up to the day, it is important for students to plan for the many different activities that comprise the graduation process. Some important details for students and families to remember are:

  • The Year 12 Farewell breakfast commences at 8.00am in the Ludolph Court. Students are required to wear their SUMMER UNIFORM to school that day. Students can wear their Leavers’ Jacket on the day with their summer uniform.
  • The Farewell Assembly will proceed after the conclusion of the Breakfast and will commence at 9.00am in the O’Reilly Centre.
  • At the conclusion of the Farewell Assembly, Year 12 students will head to St Joseph’s Church to rehearse for the Graduation Mass and Ceremony. Students will be dismissed at the conclusion of the rehearsal and after any associated announcements.
  • Graduation Mass commences at 6.30pm sharp in St Joseph’s Church. Students will be required to assemble in their designated House area by 5.45pm.
  • Students are required to wear their FULL WINTER UNIFORM to the Graduation Mass and Ceremony. I highly recommend that uniforms are washed, ironed and blazers are dry-cleaned for this important occasion. Students have also been reminded of the need to have haircuts and styles that conform to the College regulations in order to participate in the Graduation events.

Other important reminders

  • Year 12 ATAR students will commence their final school exams in the first week of the school holidays. Students are required to wear their SUMMER UNIFORM to their mock-ATAR exams but if the weather is cold, they are allowed to wear their jumpers or alternatively bring their Leavers Jackets to wear in the exam. Year 12 exams conclude on Wednesday, 6 October.
  • Year 12 ATAR students are required to return to the College on Monday 11 October for the return and review of their exams.
  • Some Year 12 Vocational may be required to attend school in Week 4.1 to complete their Certificates or who have outstanding class work to complete. Those students are required to report to the BP Forum in summer uniform with their laptops fully charged.
  • All Year 12 students are to return to the College on Friday, 15 October for their Farewell House assembly and for the rehearsal for the Graduation Assembly. Students will be dismissed once these have been completed.
  • The Year 12 examination review sessions will take place between Monday 18 October and Thursday 21 October. These sessions are compulsory for all ATAR students. Students have already been given details about the schedule for the review sessions and students are required to wear their SUMMER UNIFORM.
  • More details regarding the conclusion of the year for Year 12 students can be found in the Year 12 Organisational Details booklet which has been provided to students and is available on SEQTA.

STUDENT LEADERS 2022

Thank you and well done to our Year 11 Students who applied for Student Leadership Roles for 2022. The standard of the applications was excellent and through the interview process, it was a great opportunity to get to know more about each student. It was pleasing to hear of the students’ enthusiasm and passionate commitment to St Norbert College to create a better place for the future generations of students to come.

On Monday, a celebratory morning tea was organised by Mrs Leon Rogers for the appointed Student Leaders for 2022, where students were congratulated. They were also informed that they have responsibilities commencing the start of next term. Students will be sent a letterwith upcoming events for them to lead at the end of this term.

I would also like to express a special thank you to Mrs Leon Rogers who coordinated the whole student leadership interview and selection process in addition to her normal duties as Head of Tongerlo House. Thank you also to Ms Margaret Kyd, Miss Maureen Smith, Mr Chad Beins,  Mrs Lisa Quartermain, Mr Ryan Godfrey, Mr Aaron D’Souza, Mr Brendan McGrath, Mr Patrick Ah Fong and Mrs Lyndsey Cardenia who invested considerable time and effort in the interview process.

Uniform and Grooming Reminders

Year 7-11 and all Year 12 ATAR students commence Term 4 in FULL SUMMER UNIFORM on Monday 11 October 2021. Year 12 Vocational Pathway students return on Friday 15 October 2021 at 8:45am.

Please check summer uniforms in advance, during the school holidays to ensure any items needing to be replaced are done so before school commences.

Uniform Shop holiday opening times are published at the end of the newsletter and on the College website.

All students are expected to return to the College with haircuts, jewellery and personal presentation standards in line with the College expectations. Students should not be getting piercings or haircuts that do not conform to the College regulations. In recent times there have been several students who have presented with haircuts that are too short (less that #2) or the contrast between lengths are too extreme – both of these contravene the College’s standards. Students should take the opportunity over the holiday break to ensure they are completely compliant with the Uniform and Personal Presentation Expectations as outlined in the Student Diary (Pages 12 -16).

The Term 4 Family Calendar will be uploaded onto SEQTA at the end of Term 3.
