Ancient history and Remembrance Day

Ancient China

During Term 3 in Year 7 Humanities and Social Sciences, the students learnt about Ancient History. Here at St Norbert we look at Ancient China. This history can be traced back some 4000 years and the students look at how topography kept them isolated; how the emperor ruled, in many cases, with an iron fist; types of religion, the great achievements of the Great Wall and daily life activities.

7HUM05 had the opportunity to participate in a number of activities to help them understand what daily life would have been like for the ancient Chinese. Even though these things are still done today, the students got a feel for Chinese traditions. Students engaged in a Chinese tea ceremony, where students learnt the art of receiving tea with respect from your host. They tried Green, Jasmine and Oolong tea. They also tried the mind and body relaxing moves of Tai Chi. Thank you to all the students involved.

Remembrance Day 2021

Remembrance Day falls on the 11 November each year. On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minutes’ silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation.

Each year, the St Norbert College Community erects a memorial wall honouring all those who have sacrificed in the face of war. We acknowledge Australia and New Zealand’s involvement and we also would like to take the opportunity to honour other countries, wars and people.

If you would like your family member to be placed on our memorial wall, please contact Miss Danielle Pisconeri (dpisconeri@norbert.wa.edu.au) with their name, any details you are willing to share with us and a copy of an image of your family member. Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Miss Pisconeri.
