Library

Over the holidays I have been sending little gift packages of books in the mail to those who requested them. All books received were welcomed with open arms, giving our big readers some much needed reading time to relax.

This week as part of our library classes we will be doing a webinar on research skills with the State Library of Victoria. In this modern world we can be overwhelmed with information - there is a lot of information out there. In this webinar students will learn how to evaluate a resource, so they have the most up to date and relevant information.  Research skills become a life skill that students will apply not only at school but for the rest of their lives. We will be delving more into our research skills this term with the 10/11s to prepare them for the in depth research skills required in year 7.

Today we read Bing Bang Begin by Mark Cohen and illustrated by Kia Maddock. It is a story about how love connects everything and covers topics from The Big Bang to Eastern Cosmology, Thermodynamics, Evolution and Quantum Theory. It has poetic rhythmical language and intricate drawings that capture and hold the children's attention. This book is fun and highly educational as it is a great way to introduce complex topics and the connectedness of all things. I highly recommend it (for ages 5-12).
