Year 7 Junior Ambassador Application 2021


The Year 7s are currently in the process of applying to become Junior Ambassadors for 2021/2022. The process was outlined in the Year 7 Assembly (4th October) and will continue to be discussed in Wellbeing over the next few weeks. Year 7s are also creating a resume as part of their Semester 2 Learning Task for Wellbeing. They can use this resume in their JA Application.

 

Only Year 7s who want to apply need to complete the Junior Ambassador Application.

Selection Criteria

  1. Be eager to learn and be a part of the Junior Ambassador program
  2. A role model to all members of MGC community, particularly students.
  3. Represent the school in a positive and knowledgeable way.
  4. Committed to the Junior Ambassador program.
  5. Punctual and reliable in attendance to all training sessions, tours and meetings.
  6. Be willing to improve your ability to speak in front of others and answer questions. 
  7. Ability to communicate with people across large age ranges.
  8. Build on and continually develop existing skills and the skills listed above.
  9. Actively seek, reflect and act upon feedback.
  10. Wear full school uniform with pride.

Selection and Appointment Process

  • Students complete resume and written application via Microsoft Forms link
  • The four written questions to respond to are:
    • Why do you want to become a Junior Ambassador?
    • What skills do you have that would assist you in this role?
    • Provide an example of a situation where you have shown commitment to a role (or a team). How did you contribute to the team? What did you learn about being part of this team?
    • Is there anything else that you would like to add?
  • Please take the time to think about and draft your responses to these questions.
  • Applicants are then short-listed by Public Relation Captains and the Year 7 Level Leaders. This is completed by reading applications.
  • Approximately 60 students will be selected and will be approved by the Year 7 Leaders.
  • The appointed Junior Ambassadors will be notified by email by the Public Relations Captain by Wednesday 3rd November.

Role Description

  1. Show an enthusiastic attitude towards your role
  2. Attend all training sessions, as appropriate and relevant, and participate actively.
  3. Learn tour script and be familiar with Frequently Asked Questions.
  4. Take school tours enthusiastically throughout the year, particularly Open Day.
  5. Usher at school events e.g. Information Night, Presentation Night and Alumnae Days.
  6. Run tours and assist teachers on Orientation Day, when new student teachers arrive and at other times.
  7. Respond to emails and requests in a timely way.
  8. Be a role model and an ambassador for MGC by wearing correct uniform and badge with pride and acting in the best interests of the school community.

  • Please submit your resume and responses to those four application questions via the Microsoft Forms link by 4 pm on Monday October 25th.

Representing Melbourne Girls’ College as a Junior Ambassador is a position of privilege. With the right to be a Junior Ambassador comes a high level of responsibility as outlined in the selection criteria and role description.  If successful, you will need to consistently perform at the best of your ability, learn the tour guide script and wear the College uniform correctly and with pride. You will represent the College with great respect, both in and outside school. You will be a reliable, confident and approachable person who is able and willing to develop my leadership skills. You will be ready to take on a challenge. You will take College tours, attend Information Nights and attend Presentation Night and other events as required

 

There are a number of events that require Junior Ambassadors after school hours, and this must be taken into consideration prior to submitting this application.

 

Submitting this application does not automatically guarantee acceptance into the program.  You will receive an email notifying of you of the outcome.
