Welcome Back to School Grade 5/6

We missed you!

This term's topic is Asia, we started looking at this continent during lockdown so it was nice to get going on creating actual physical displays about Asia in the classroom!

Students have selected a country from Asia to research and write about. Each week, our students research a topic such as climate, geographical features and culture and rewrite this information in their own words. Along with learning about the diverse countries of Asia, we are also discussing the similarities and differences with reference to Australia.

As always, the teachers are fascinated to learn which countries our students are interested in learning about - they often surprise us in this regard.

Here are a few of the facts we have learned so far:

Jordan has over 300 days of sun a year!

Asia has both the highest and lowest places in the world.

The city of Tokyo has the highest population compared to all other cities round the world.

9 out of the top 10 tallest buildings are in Asia.

Asia covers 1/3 of the Earth's surface.

India was the first country to mine diamonds.
