OT Week 2021

We celebrated JSA OT week this week with a focus on raising staff awareness about how sensory input can support students’ readiness to learn. Focusing on one sensory system each day, students had the opportunity to explore and engage in various sensory based activities.

Across the week, we had the following activities:

  • Monday: Proprioceptive day (workouts in the OT room and Climbing Gym)
  • Tuesday: Visual & Auditory day (sensory bottle and rainmaker activities)
  • Wednesday: Oral Motor day (bubble monsters, blow toys, chewy & crunchy snacks)
  • Thursday: Tactile day (texture-based activities such as slime, spaghetti play, shaving cream)
  • Friday: Vestibular day (movement based activities such as animal walks)

Students also had fun singing and moving along to daily sensory songs featuring our JSA OTs Tara and Tiffany. The JSA OT team had fun preparing for and running our 2021 OT week. It was great to see staff and students actively participating in the various activities. We look forward to more fun in OT Week 2022.
