Hi there everyone!

To be expected, Term 4 is proving to be another 'super busy' time of the year for our JSA school community. Hence, we have plenty to report to keep you well informed:

2021 Curriculum and Assessment Policy

Several of our school leaders, have been partaking in a Pilot Program to discuss and observe our compliance of the DET's range of Minimum Standards, including our curriculum and assessment procedures. In our review of our existing Curriculum Policy we have made considerable change including detail outlining the following:

  • all aspects of mandatory and elective curriculum delivery (Levels A-10)
  • updated Assessment Practices
  • JSA Instructional Model - how we structure our lessons
  • our school-wide Tutor Learning Program
  • Tiered-approach for a school wide curriculum review : at a classroom, sub school and whole school level
  • Secondary Pathways Curriculum (inclusive of Years 7-12 CIA and VCAL Pathways)

This policy will document how we can effectively assess, plan, deliver and evaluate our student learning to 1) effectively cater to the learning needs and wellbeing of our students and to 2) collaboratively and systematically improve the outcomes that we achieve year to year. Exciting times ahead for JSA!

Semester 2 Reporting

As mentioned by Corinne, Semester 2 reports are scheduled to be distributed on Friday, 19th November. Our teachers are working diligently to finalise them in time for you to discuss in our Term 4 SSG meetings, to commence in Week 8.

Term 4 SSGs

Our SSG meetings are underway between Monday 22nd November - Thursday 9th December. We allocated this 3-week block (from Monday-Thursday) each term for you to negotiate a preferred meeting time with your child's teacher. A parent note will be sent home shortly for you to do so. Meetings can be conducted on onsite for those parents/carers that are double vaccinated. If so, you will be required to Check-in using our QR Code via the admin office areas ONLY to notify us of your vaccination status. If you are not currently double vaccinated, we will also provide access to meetings via WebEx or over the phone.

Secondary Pathways Curriculum

As part of our ongoing teaching and learning, we endeavour to deliver learning that is inclusive of our student's abilities, interests and motivations, in alignment with their PLSP goals. In planning for Stage 1 of the building development in the Secondary School area, we have developed the 'Secondary Pathways Document'. In 2022, this document will act as a clear directive for all secondary students and their families to understand and follow, as we engage with their goals to plan and prepare them for the future. Supplementary parent booklets for both the CIA and VCAL curriculum streams have been prepared to outline the full complement of mandatory and elective curriculum programs.

Seesaw Parent/Carer Survey

JSA has had another very busy year utilising the Seesaw online learning platform in 2022. We have never had as many students and family members active as we do, now uploading likes and comments celebrating their child's and their child's peer's successes day to day.

We have developed a short Seesaw Parent/Carer Survey (via Google Form) to seek your feedback and input regarding our continued implementation of this platform for 2022.

If you wouldn't mind, please click the link below to answer a small set of questions to inform us regarding this year and when planning for the year ahead:
