Sister School Show and Tell
On November 26th, representatives of our year 10 and 11 Chinese language students and teachers (Mr. Ding and Ms. Wang) took part in the Victoria-Jiangsu Sister School Program 2021 Exchange Activities between VUSC and High School Affiliated to Yangzhou University.
Although the two schools, which have a close relationship and deep culture ties, can only conduct online activities due to the impact of the epidemic, the change in the way of communication has not stopped the enthusiasm of the teachers and students of the two schools.
The teachers and students from both sides introduced themselves and got to know about each other's schools. Then we had an engaged discussion related to VUSC and Yangzhou High school from various aspects, such as extra-curricular activities, Australian and Chinese traditional culture and customs, and ways to celebrate holidays and festivals.
Our students' vivid oral expression and colourful interaction enhanced the experience and participation of the exchange activity, enabling the Chinese students to experience the charm of Australia school culture and the enthusiasm of VUSC teachers and students.
In the exchange of extracurricular activities, the students of the two schools opened up share their colourful campus cultural life. For a time, there was a lot of laughter on the field, the atmosphere was warm, and the other end of the network broke out in encouraging applause.
In the final Q&A session, students from the two schools had an in-depth exchange on the topics they were interested in. For example, different characteristics of school uniforms aroused everyone's curiosity. Donald LA (11B) also showed the special logo on school uniforms and the profound connotations behind it.
This activity enabled Australian and Chinese students to grow in interaction and develop in practice. This activity not only brought students of both countries closer to each other, but also cultivated their awareness of cross-cultural communication, improved their ability of cross-cultural communication, and laid a solid foundation for more online and offline communication between teachers and students.
