COVID-Smart

At St Joseph’s we operate with COVID-smart measures that have been developed in partnership with NSW Health to help minimise transmissions at school. The health and wellbeing of our students and staff remain our priority and these measures are designed to help keep our school open and our students learning in the classroom. A range of health and safety measures include increased daily cleaning, additional hygiene measures, physical distancing requirements, and rapid antigen tests.

Please refer to the letter sent to parents on 25 January.

Rapid Antigen Tests Next Week

Today the second distribution of rapid antigen test kits (RATs) are now available for collection for student use. Each student will receive four RAT kits and it is recommended they be used on the following days:

Test 1- Monday 14 February before school.

Test 2- Wednesday 16 February before school.

Test 3- Monday 21 February before school.

Test 4- Wednesday 23 February before school.

If you are having any difficulty with your children taking the RAT please contact the school for support.

It is important that we continue to work together and remain vigilant in our response to this virus. Your ongoing support is very much appreciated.

ACTION: 2022 Parent Information Packs and Important Information

Thank you to those families who have completed and returned the forms to the school office.  For those who have not yet returned the forms, please read the covering letter carefully and return at your earliest convenience.

What do I need to do if my child's arrangements for going home change?

At times your child's travel arrangement for going home can change for various reasons. When this occurs it is always advisable to let the school office know to save any confusion.

The school office is able to advise your child and their teacher if messages are received by 1:20 pm.

2022 School Fees

School fees for 2022 have now been invoiced and statements will be issued by the end of this week with annual or first instalment payments are due on 28 February 2022.  You may view school fees in the Compass Parent Portal.

All student activity levies include all costs except the Swimming Carnival and  Gala Days.  These items will be billed separately through EVENTS on the COMPASS Parent Portal.

Student Absences

Whole Days

The school must receive notification by a parent or caregiver of any whole day absence. This can be done via the Compass School Management System on the day of the absence. In the event that notification is not supplied, the absence will be recorded as Unjustified/Unexplained.

Partial Absences

The School Office records partial absences when a child enters school late or leaves school early and parents are not required to enter these via Compass.

Unexplained extended absences from school are serious and the school adheres to the School Attendance Guidelines and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Bulli Procedures of the Catholic Education Office, Wollongong.

What Should I Do If My Child Is Returning To School With An Injury?

The care and safety of a student with a significant injury while at school is important.

Parents of a student who has sustained an injury such as a broken or badly sprained arm,  leg or leg or foot injury requiring a boot or crutches, or cannot participate in normal school or sports activities, must present the school with a Medical Certificate signed off by a third party Medical Practitioner prior to returning to school.

The certificate must state that the student is medically fit to attend school, the activities he/she is able to participate in and the activities the child should not participate in.

Once the certificate is received the school will conduct a risk assessment for the student before the child can return to school. Until the risk assessment is completed, injured students as described above will not be able to attend class.

The Risk Management Plan will remain in place at school until a further medical certificate is provided clearing the student to resume normal school activities.

I ask that parents adhere to this process as school staff must adhere to Work, Health, and Safety requirements.

Happy Birthday

Wishing all our students who celebrated their special day over the Christmas and New Year period.

14 February - Zoe C Yr4
