What have we been up to?
Β
In Literacy, students have been reading and writing a variety of persuasive texts. They have learned how to present an argument to support their opinion on summer and footy. We have also focused on being able to list vocabulary in a persuasive text, editing, rewriting important parts and listing arguments on both the βforβ and βagainstβ sides.
In Maths, students have started looking at the place-value concept,Β where they will be learning to partition, rearrange and regroup numbers to at least tens of thousands. We have been having lots of fun using MAB blocks, charts, dice and cards to support our learning.
Β
We have started our Inquiry unit, exploring βAustraliaβ. Students have investigated the natural and manmade features of Australia. We have studied the geographical representation of Australia on a map, including our states and territories, and are beginning to investigate the location of capital cities and regional centres around Australia.Β
Β
In Science, students have also started their new unit of study on Earth and Space Sciences. Students have explored their prior knowledge of the concepts of day and night, and have investigated key features of the Sun.Β
Β
Just a few reminders for our students and families:Β
- Spelling homework has started. Each week on Monday, students will bring home their spelling homework. We ask that each night students complete a look, say, cover, write, check for their 8 chosen words. Please have students bring in their purple homework folder every Friday.Β
- Students need to remember their hats and water bottles as the weather continues to be hot. Slip! Slop! Slap!Β
- Can we please ask each student to bring in an appropriate novel to school if they havenβt already.Β
- If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email your child's classroom teacher.Β
