HeadStart Program
Head Start is a program which allows students to complete their VCE or VCAL alongside an apprenticeship or traineeship. Head Start is designed to give students the confidence, capabilities and skills that employers in growth industries need.
Cranbourne Secondary College is the host school for Head Start in the outer south east. At Cranbourne SC we currently have students making significant progress towards their future careers in a wide range of vocational pathways such as commercial cookery, childcare and hairdressing. Our students are excelling in the workplace and establishing the networks and embedding themselves into secure post school opportunities. These students are able to leave Year 12 knowing that they are working within the roles and industry of choice and will continue building on their established solid foundations.
Students wanting to engage with this program are encouraged to collect an expression of interest from the Head Start Office located in the Careers and Pathways section of “W” block.
Students are expected to be managing the demands of school. Students need to be achieving academic progress and good attendance. An assessment of student’s readiness to undertake the challenges of the program will be undertaken by the team.
Support is available throughout the program in the form of academic as well as mentoring. Staff work closely with all parties to ensure that the student has the best opportunity to achieve success.
