Year 12 Valedictory 2021

Year 12 international students joined with their classmates and close friends to attend the Year 12 Valedictory Assembly at Doncaster Secondary College on Friday, 19 November. For them, the ceremony was filled with mixed emotions: happiness, excitement, tears and laughter. During last three years at DSC, many friendships were forged in and out of the schoolyard and these friendships will last longer than their time at school.

Congratulations to those students who have Excellent attendance in Term 4 study. You have shown us your ability of being resilient and being responsible for your own study. 

Summer Holiday Care Package

All international students at DSC have not been able to go back to their home country and visit their family members for almost two years due to COVID related travel restrictions. During this difficult time, they have received plenty of support from the International Student Team, their teachers, their homestay families and the DSC community as a whole.  The majority of them will also not consider travel back this coming summer holiday due to border uncertainties, therefore, with support from the DSC leadership team, we have prepared a Summer Care package for our international students to cheer them up. 

When I handed them the gift bags, it was good to see their smiling faces, bright eyes and appreciation for the gifts we prepared for them. 

I also would like to share their appreciation with our school community: 

It was quite a challenging year with lockdowns, restrictions and online learning. However, the DSC international team never fails to show continuous support for all international students. The summer care packages that were arranged by team was absolutely adorable. I would like to say thank Ms Huang, Ms Fang and other individuals who have supported us throughout the journey and for taking care of all of us. THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING YEAR!

I would like to extend my gratitude to the DSC community and the international students team for the presents I got for my summer break. I am very grateful for the gifts and would use them well.

Thank you very much to the school and the International Student-teacher for preparing a fantastic gifts bag for us. There are various things in the gift bag that are very useful to us. I plan to share the chocolate in the bag with my family and friends. I can also play the game cards in the gift with my friends. The colour pen and book in the gift can be used in the holiday time, which can spend my alone time. The holiday is coming; I believe I will make good use of these during the holiday.

When I received the exquisite gift bag, I was really surprised and appreciated the international student teachers Ms Huang and Ms Fang. This package includes fantastic colour pens and books with can help me to past free time. Also, the box of masks and hand sanitizer is helpful in this special period. As well as the chocolate and gift card can be shared with friends and family with happy. This package contains love and expect from teachers for us. Holiday is coming and I believe I can use them well.

I am very happy to receive the summer care package. When I received the caring gift, I felt that the school cared about me. This gift is very practical, such as sunscreen, crayons and shopping coupons. It can be seen that the school and the teacher prepared meticulously in advance. This gift keeps me from being bored during the holidays. International students may feel sad because of the Covid not being able to return to the country, but after receiving this gift from the school, I feel warm and any negative emotions are gone. I am very happy to be able to study in such a warm place, a school that cares about students very much.

I like the gift pack from the school very much. There are a lots of useful things inside the package, where the most I liked is the gift card, masks and moisturiser. I could use the gift card to buy something that I needed. In the meantime, my own masks is almost run out so I’m really appreciate that the school provide us a new one. Lastly, I loved and need the facial moisturiser especially now because it’s summer and I use it for the summer break when I’m out.
