Zoom

Zoom is the video-conferencing tool we are using to stay in contact with our students.  Students Zoom with their Learning Centre teacher each morning for devotions and opening activities.  They will also Zoom with their teacher at other times of the day as they need help, or if they are sitting a test, or wanting permission to move forward in their work.

We'd like for all students to sign in to Zoom using their school Google account.  This is the same account they have used to log in to Canvas.  This will allow the teachers and other support staff to contact the students directly.  Contact with school staff will only occur during school hours.  We have placed instructional videos (for iPads only) in the 'Instructions' section of each child's Learning Centre page on Canvas.  Look there to learn how to sign in, change notifications, and accept a Zoom invitation.    Year 9/10s will sign in a little differently once they have their new laptops.  We'll step them through that at the appropriate time.

Some students have been using Zoom to contact each other outside of class time  - and perhaps during class time.  It can be a great tool for socialising and just catching up with mates.  We would urge parents though to have a conversation with their children and set in place some boundaries around when it is appropriate to do this and under what circumstances.  An open mic and camera in a family home is not always welcome!
