You Yangs excursion

EXCURSION TO THE YOU YANGS

On Thursday 4 May, Years 9 and 10 Art and Digital Art students had the opportunity to explore and observe the beautiful landscapes of the You Yangs National Park.

They learned how to look at nature for inspiration, by looking closer at natural landscapes to produce quick drawing activities such as 5 minute continuous line drawing of three trees, 10 minute detailed drawing of a preferred area of landscape, charcoal drawing, B&W onto brown paper, colour oil pastel drawing, and water colour drawing.

An hour and a half later, students had the opportunity to enjoy a shared lunch, where they showed and discussed their work.

They also had to analyse different landscape artwork to identify different Elements and Principles of Art and Design, then using perspective, scale, proportion, balance and emphasis they had to produce a final painting.

The last hour of the excursion was spent doing a full live acrylic painting, which turned out to be a great success.   A fantastic day was had by all!
