K-6 Sporting News
Elective Sports – Term 3 (Year 3-6 Sport)
Elective sports continue. Please make sure your child is paying each week. If there are any concerns, please contact the school. Any bus travel is included in the price. Students need to bring their money each week to give to their sports teacher.
• Indoor Sports - $3.50 per week
This will be held at the Inverell Indoor Centre. Students will do indoor cricket, netball and soccer.
• School Sport – No Cost
This will be a variety of activities each week held at school on the back oval (eg. Hockey, Tee-ball, Basketball, Soccer, Cricket)
• Ten Pin Bowling - $8.50
Shake Rattle and Bowl – Ring Street
• Bushwalking – No cost
This will be at a variety of venues around town including on the pathways and a trip to Goonoowigall.
• BMX/MTB/Cycling – no cost
Held at the new circuit, Lake Inverell Drive. Each week students will ride to the area. All participants must have their own bike and helmet.
• King Fit - $3.50
This involves going to the Nick King Lifestyle Centre to do activities around strength, coordination and fitness. Qualified instructors take the class.
• Dance – No Cost
This will be held at school and is not formal lessons. It will be following ‘Just Dance’
routines.
Diocesan Touch Carnival
Children in Year 3-6 will have the opportunity to nominate to represent Holy Trinity at the 2019 Diocesan Touch Carnival in Inverell on Friday 1 November. These games will be held at the Inverell Sports Complex. This is an open Primary Touch Carnival so all students will be competing against 9, 10, 11 & 12 year olds. Students will need to get their own way to the Complex and be there by 8:40am. The day will conclude at approximately 2:30pm where students will be transported back to school by bus. Cost for the day is $5.
Year 1 Swimming
Next term, as part of the Year 1 Physical Education program, we are taking all Year 1 children to the Town Pool to develop water confidence, stroke development and participate in water activities. Students will be grouped according to their ability.
They will go to the pool by bus from 1:45pm – 3:00pm each Thursday starting 31 October, for 5 weeks. Permission notes and further information will go home early next term.
Sapphire City River Run
The annual Sapphire City Run will be held on Sunday, 13 October. You can walk, run or jog. Distances are 9.2km, 4.6km and 2.5km. Registration is from 7:30am at Campbell Park. To enter go online to @trybooking.com
Inverell Junior Touch
Its Junior Touch Footy time again and the association is looking forward to a big year. Registrations are now OPEN. It is $60 per player. All grades are catered for from Kindergarten to Under 18 Years (depending on numbers). Team nominations only are accepted. Teams are made up of a maximum of 12 players with 6 players on the field. • Diocesan Summer Trials, Gunnedah (Year 5 students only) – Friday 29 November
Secondary Sport
School sport
School sport for the remainder of the term will be run in year groups. Students will be participating in a variety of games and activities either at school or the sports complex.
NSWCCC Athletics
Good luck to Hannah Law (12 yrs 100m, 200m), Sam Spencer (13 yrs 100m, 200m), Angus Harris (14 yrs discus), Cilla Monie (14 yrs 800m) and Campbell Watchirs (16’s 100m) who are attending the NSWCCC Athletics Championships in Sydney this Friday.
