Yarning Circles

On Wednesday the 8th August, I went with Noah, Talia, Jada and AE to Barmah to represent the school for the Yarning Circles program.

It was about learning how Aboriginal students feel about speaking out for themselves and to see how good their voices are.

We were also asked how do we feel about our school and how well we are doing and what makes us reluctant to speak out.

Yarning Circles was a chance to meet other Indigenous kids from other schools and to get to know each other.

We met some Elders who told us their stories about when they were young.

We went for a walk outside to the Barmah Lake and spoke about gum trees and how they grow in the bush.

Thanks to Billie for taking us to have this experience.

The VMG ICT & Beyond Class

The VMG ICT & Beyond class were privileged to have our very own TSSP Tom Rhodes speak to the students about networks and security this week.  Tom is extremely knowledgeable and fielded a number of very thoughtful questions from the students on a range of IT subjects from government censorship to download speeds.  I was impressed to see just how well informed the students are on security issues, particularly those that have appeared in the media recently, and it was clear they have a genuine passion for IT.  I’d like to thank Tom for giving the students his time to answer questions and show them around the school’s IT infrastructure.
