Principal's Message

School Philosophy

Orchard Grove Primary School is committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment that engages curiosity, promotes learning, personal growth and wellbeing for all students. We strive to develop adaptability and resilience so students can become valued members of the local and global communities and be prepared for future life experiences.

From the Principal

Welcome back to a new school term. I hope you had a restful and enjoyable holiday.

School Enrolments for 2020

If you have a child starting in Foundation at OGPS next year, please enrol them as soon as possible. We are now in the process of finalising the numbers for the Foundation classes for 2020. We would like to make sure that we have counted all children from current families.  Enrolment forms are available at the office if you need one.

Colour Run

What a lot of fun that was! I hope everyone else enjoyed it.

We raised $10,000 which will go towards the renovation to our Amphitheatre. This will include landscaping, redoing the seating and new plants. If you registered and ordered a prize online, you will receive it late next week. Thanks again to everyone who helped and participated - especially Rosie Campbell (our Art Specialist) and Sally Payne. Watch this space!

Woolworths Earn and Learn

Many thanks to everyone who collected the Woolworths Earn and Learn stickers for our school. We collected just over 46,000 which is equivalent to around $4000 in monetary terms.

With the points, I have been  able to order some Lego Robotics and some Maths equipment. This has been a great opportunity to add to our technology resources. They should arrive in the school within the next few weeks.

Welcome Totem Poles

You will have noticed on the Orchard Grove side of the school that we have 3 new multi lingual ‘Welcome’ totem poles.

These poles represent the history of the land on which we are sited and our contemporary culture.

The animals featured are native to the Wurundjeri area - the witchetty grub, the Pobblebonk (Eastern Banjo) frog and a monitor lizard.

Wurundjeri  is derived from the words ‘wurun’ and ‘djeri’:

Wurun – River Red Gum and Manna Gum

Djeri – grubs; found in the River Red Gums and eaten by the Wurundjeri people.

The words you see on the poles mean ‘Welcome’ in 28 different languages and represent the cultures of our Orchard Grove Primary School Community.

So, to all of you, Wominjika, Laipni lūdzam, καλως ΗΡΘΑΤΕ and 欢迎 to Orchard Grove Primary. Have a wonderful Term 3.
