Scotsburn News

Welcome Back

The staff at Scotsburn would like to welcome everyone back and hope that you all had a wonderful break.

Newsletter

Please keep an eye out for the weekly newsletter. The Scotsburn section will contain important dates and information, so please make sure you have a read each week.

Compass

Don’t forget to use your personal login details to access compass. Notifications and updates will continue in this space now that the school app has been phased out.

Attendance

A child’s biggest indicator for success out of school is how much time they spend at school. If your child is away from school please phone or email the Buninyong office first to let them know that your child will not be present.

Arrival Times

8:45 am is an ideal time to arrive at school, as the classrooms and playground are not supervised until then. All children should be ready to start the day at 9 am. If your child is absent on any given day, please ensure that you contact the Buninyong Primary School office to inform them.

Looking After Our Animals

A big thanks to the Klein family (looked after Pip the lizard) and the Wenzlick family (looked after our chooks) for taking such great care of our animals. We really appreciate it.

Parent Catch Up

We invite all parents to come along to our next catch up on Tuesday 15th October at 9 amto discuss the Student Opinion and Parent Opinion Survey Results. We hope that as many families as possible can make it. As always, toddlers are most welcome.

P-2 Sports

The Scotsburn Gr P-2’s will be participating in the P-2 Sports at the Buninyong Campus oval on Friday 11th October from 11.30 am – 1 pm. The kids will start the day at Scotsburn and then catch the bus down to the school oval at 11 am ready to start the rotation activities. Families are most welcome to attend. The P-2’s will be returning to Scotsburn at 2 pm on this day.

P-2 Sleepover

Thursday 24th October is the Scotsburn P-2 Sleepover. Students will receive permission notes and information regarding what to bring very soon. It would be great if parents could drop off their P-2 kids at 5.30pm and help them put their bed together. For some students, the Friday at school might be a long day! If you have concerns, please contact Shaun or Ana to arrange a time to collect your child early.

New Sand Pit

During the break, Tanya, Clinton & Isaac Le Maitre along with Rick Innes and Shaun were able to construct the new sand pit between the Old Building and toilet block. The sand will go in very soon, which will provide yet another great space for the kids to play. A big thanks to those volunteers for donating so much of their time.

Chook Shed

A big thanks again to Rick (Amity, Maggie & Flynn’s Pa) who spent some time at Scotsburn over the break finishing off the new and improved chook shed ready for our chooks to return. Your commitment to the campus is greatly appreciated.

Burn Off

A big thanks to Gareth Smith and his team from the Buninyong Fire Brigade for burning off our rather large heap during the break. Thanks so much.

Preparing for a Bushfire

With the warmer weather approaching, preparing your family and property for a possible bushfire is crucial. You could download ‘Your Guide to Survival’ along with the template from the CFA’s website www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/your-guide-to-survival/ as a starting point. You may like to also attend your local fire brigade for any further safety tips.

In terms of bush fire preparedness at school, later this week we are having our trees assessed by an Arborist and then will undertake the works required to reduce our risk.

To keep everyone safe, our Scotsburn students and staff will spend  days deemed as 'Code Red' at Buninyong.  We will do the same on other days when a decision is made by school leadership that the Bush fire risk is high even if Government hasn't declared 'Code Red' status.

Parents will always receive at least one day of notice if a decision has been made to relocate to Buninyong.

Drumbeat & H & HR

Notes and permission forms will be sent home during the week detailing times and dates for these sessions. Please check in with Ms Geddes should you have any questions.
