Be Positive Theme of the Fortnight

“Everyone has the right to feel safe / Personal Safety”

This term, our Be Positive program focuses largely on child safety and helping the kids to develop skills in understanding their body, what are private parts, secrets (good and bad) and how to respond if you are not feeling comfortable. This fortnight will be focussed on feeling safe as a person.

If you are looking to find out more about discussing personal safety with your child, we can certainly recommend Bravehearts who have a resource section where parents can buy invaluable resources to help educate their children around personal safety.

In addition to Bravehearts there are lots of books that can support parents/carers to broach the topic in a considered manner. Below are some that you may find useful:

Student Agency and Action - Making a Difference

At the final assembly of last term, we were fortunate enough to celebrate some wonderful work from our students as they pushed themselves in the community to raise funds for two great causes. Pictured are Aurelia and Bronte who raised money through a lolly jar competition to go towards the Ballarat Animal Shelter. Alongside them is Mia and Sophie who raised valuable funds for cancer research through a teddy bear naming fundraiser. Well done girls! We’re proud of your efforts and showing such great empathy to raise funds to support others.

Grade 3 ROCCH Award Winners

Congratulations to these fantastic grade 3 students who were awarded the student of the week late last term! Well done superstars!

Welcome SID and SAM

Late last term we welcomed two new members down to the office…  SID and SAM. Along with some sensory boxes, they help students who need time to regulate by giving them a huge cuddle! SID and SAM help us to use our Zones of Regulation and it’s not just the kids that have been loving them! Many of our staff enjoy the soft cuddle toys too!
