Principal's Report

Welcome Back

Welcome back to everyone and I hope you all had a nice break and managed some enjoyable time with the kids.

We took the opportunity to get quite a few things done over the 2 weeks while the children were off site.  This included:

  • A shed has been constructed at our Buninyong Campus creating a purpose built centre for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities.  Over the next few months this will house much of the activity related to EBT (Energy Break Through).
  • We had quite a bit of painting done, including the entrance to our Buninyong Campus and the east and north walls of the gym.  These areas were in a very poor state and now look much better.
  • Work commenced on gutting the student toilets in the admin building at our Buninyong Campus.  This is the beginning of a project that will see us opening a Home Economics Space early in 2020.
  • Some more line marking has been done and 2 air conditioning units were installed.

Our facilities (including grounds and both campuses) are quite extensive these days, so it is important we keep on top of things.  A Buildings and Grounds Sub-Committee of School Council is currently developing a plan for maintenance and improvement works over the next few years.

Uniform Survey

Last term we explained that a Uniform Sub-Committee of School Council had been set up.  This team has responsibility for seeking the views of parents before making recommendations to School Council, who will make final decisions.  The intention is to update the policy, rather than make significant changes.

Following discussions at School Council and with PLPs, the Uniform Sub-Committee has developed a Uniform Survey relating to specific aspects of the Uniform Policy.

All parents will receive a Compass notification inviting them to participate in the survey later today.  If uniform is important to you, please make sure you take a few minutes to complete the survey and share your thoughts.  The survey will close at 4pm next Friday (October 18).

Note: If you would prefer to complete a hard copy of the survey, paper copies will be available at the main office from tomorrow.

Staff V Students Football Match

It’s always nice to finish term 3 with our Sports Colours Day, the highlight of which is the Staff V Students football match.  Many of our students can’t wait to get to grade 6 and test themselves against the teachers in this match.

The scores were very tight in the 1st half, but the teachers gradually finally warmed up and showed a bit more in the 2nd half, finishing up with a comfortable win.
