Book of Exodus cast member Tarana Verma

Side by side

by Kate Ellis, Drama Teacher

Last week one of our Year 7 students, Ezra Justin, was cast in a new work by Adena Jacobs. Book of Exodus  follows two children as they create a documentary of a history they cannot remember.

Known for their bold, visually explosive theatre-making, Fraught Outfit’s Book of Exodus  traces a community propelled by divine force. Inspired by the biblical Book of Exodus, Part I is a radical, poetic response to an ancient narrative of plagues and miracles, violence and division, punishment and liberation, the drowned and the saved. This will be the final instalment in Fraught Outfit’s Innocence Trilogy, including the radical, acclaimed production On the Bodily Education of Young Girls  (MTC, Neon Festival 2013, produced in association with St Martins Youth Arts Centre) and the unnerving, surreal teen drama The Bacchae  co-produced with St Martins Youth Arts Centre (MIAF 2015, Dark Mofo 2016) and starring one of our last year's graduates, Tove Due.

Part I premiers in June 2017, with Part II, the final instalment, being presented at Theatre Works in October 2017.

There are two casts performing the season. Each cast comprises two young people: Sol Feldman and Tarana Verma are one duo and Malik Keegan and Ezra Justin the other. Congratulations Ezra!

"How wonderful to have two Preshilians working side by side on such an exciting production."

Tove Due is also working on the piece as Theatre Works' Director's attachment. How wonderful to have two Preshilians working side by side on such an exciting production.

If you wish to support Ezra and Tove please contact Theatreworks for tickets, keeping in mind Ezra performs every second night of the production’s season.
