School Formal

The lowdown
by Ryn Wheelan & Georgia Goodall, Year 12
Ta da! After a long debate and considering lots of different options set forth by the members of the Formal Committee and both Years 11 and 12, we finally settled on a venue for our Formal. We were very particular when it came to venue options and our main requirements were that it needed to be easy to get to and it needed to have an eclectic atmosphere. We didn’t want any ordinary formal venue!

Now, to give credit where credit is due! Our Formal Committee is made up of a group of hard-working Years 11 and 12 students. Within the Committee, we separated into teams so that we could level out the work and organise a fantastic evening. Music is being taken care of by Holly Victor, Tom Barratt and Tom Hunt; entertainment and awards by Ted Griffith, Veronica Greene and Sam Hoch and general admin (including decorations) by the two of us.
This year we decided not to box ourselves, and others, into one specific theme so we’ve opted for just black tie/formal wear.
We’ve got a photo booth and props planned, plus lots of fun awards that everyone can enjoy. We have put our heads together to design and decorate both the Formal tickets and the venue - and had a lot of fun while we were at it!
We have also decided not to hire a DJ, instead we wanted to create our own playlist of songs chosen by students. So our wonderful music team is curating a Preshil-specific Spotify Playlist of music (ad free) that everyone knows and loves.
"So come along, bring a 'plus one' or come in a group and you’re guaranteed to have a fabulous evening filled with laughs, dancing and memories that will last a lifetime."
