Assistant Principal's Report

We hope that all students have been challenged and stretched by their coursework and tasks throughout Term 1.  Interim reports were sent out and this gave the opportunity for parents and students to discuss progress at the recent Parent, Student and Teacher Interviews, both students and parents have important information to process and to reflect upon.

It is important that parents and students interpret this data as a snapshot of student progress at this certain point in time.  Whether students are seeking to improve, or to consolidate positive results, there is ample opportunity in a long Term 2 to set goals, establish and embed routines.  We encourage students and parents to engage in constructive conversations about student work.  We encourage parents to support students in developing achievable routines that will underpin consistent work practices and generate improved outcomes.

Following on from this, last Monday night we had the Elevate parent study session. This was attended by parents from the junior school that were interested in knowing how to assist their child’s learning. In this session parents were introduced to the techniques of study skills, time management and strategies. It was great to see the parents engaged.

We will be holding more parent information sessions in term 2 on a variety of health and well-being topics.

Uniform for Term 2

During next week we will hold uniform checks to ensure that our students are coming to school in the correct uniform.  The main issues we have had in the past are students wearing PE uniform when they don’t have a PE class and the length of the girl’s dresses.   Principal detentions will be issued but some will be removed if the girls come back to us with their dresses taken down at the start of Term 2.  We ask that parents ensure that their children have the correct uniform for next term.  Given that the weather will be getting colder it is important that the students have jumpers to help keep them warm. We will not be allowing students to wear non-school jumpers because it is cold. We are informing parents about this now to give everyone the opportunity to get uniform issues corrected over the term break.  Parents should also note that, to comply with school policies related to uniform and general appearance, students should not return to our College with a new facial piercing nor with hair that is un-naturally coloured or more than one colour. These are uniform and appearance expectations that have been consistently publicised and explained in the school newsletter and at assemblies. We look forward to your support in this matter.

We sincerely hope that students and parents enjoy the school break, engage in some quality time family experiences and remain safe throughout.
