The Killester College 2020 Time Capsule

The VCAL girls are making a time capsule for Killester College. A time capsule is used for storing objects representing the present time, which is then buried  for discovery in the future.

We are inviting the Killester Community to contribute to the time capsule. Items like: toilet paper, hand sanitizer, face masks, gloves, newspapers, magazines, photos, 2020 Yearbook and other items that represent the present times during COVID 19. More information will be provided to your homeroom teachers about this in Term 4.

The pandemic has changed all of our lives in different ways that has caused us to come up with the time capsule project. This is one of the many ways to tell the world in the future about how difficult life is during the pandemic.

The time capsule will be closed by Ms Buick , representatives of the current VCAL, Year 12 students and  Year 7 students. It is anticipated that this will occur when the Year 12 students finish.

Student Poster Challenge

In Term 3 the House Committee wanted to do another online challenge for students from 7-12 for house points. We decided to run a 'get creative' challenge where students submitted posters (either hand drawn or digital) of words of hope/ encouragement/ staying together etc.

Students were awarded 10 points per poster created for their house and prizes will be awarded for the students who placed 1st, 2nd & 3rd when we return to school. Well done to all the girls who submitted a poster to our 'get creative' competition!

The winners (as voted by the house leaders) were:

In first place, with her poster "Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations" was Khushmeet Sandhu (Year 8 St Patrick)

In second place, with her poster "We can get through this together" was Meagan Vu

(Yr 9 St Helen)

In third place with her poster "Learn from yesterday, live for today and hope for tomorrow" was Ariel Singh (Yr 7 St Hildegard)

Below is a video compilation of all the inspirational posters created by our wonderful students:
