Out and About.....

Term 3 draws to a close today and there seems to be a general consensus that it is one we would prefer not to repeat. But, in saying that, we have identified some positives around the COVID situation. Discussions have centred very much on new ways to interact with each other and to stay connected. The new possibilities regarding student centred learning and self-pacing and considerations regarding what is important to us (including our annual events and traditions).

Probably one of the biggest discussion points centres on how much we all miss each other. This is such a strong reminder of the importance of 'community' and our connectedness. As this newsletter is sent to our community, we hope that Term 4 brings some normality, increased personal connections and the return to some of our traditions.

Year 12 students will undertake practice exams over next week. We wish them well and look forward to seeing them at school for the GAT on Wednesday 7th October (together with a number of Year 11 girls).

A reminder that Term 4 remote learning commences on TUESDAY 6th October (as Monday 5th October will be a staff professional development day).

Years 11 and 12 students (and a number of Year 10 students undertaking Units 1/2 subjects) will return to face to face teaching on Monday 12th October.  Students need to wear the full summer uniform, which includes the blazer.

Please see below important information for the council regarding upcoming Year 7 and 10 Immunisations.

Best wishes to everyone for a relaxing holiday period. Keep safe.

Some things to note:

Only one parent/guardian to accompany each student. Please call us if you can’t arrange care for other dependents as we may be able to make an exception but this would require prior approval.  Face masks need to be worn by both parent and student.  Do not attend the immunisation session if anyone in your household is unwell, or have tested positive to COVID-19 within the last 14 days, or was a close contact to anyone who had tested positive or are awaiting results.

If you wish to take your child to your local GP for the immunisation you can, but we ask that you advise Jodie at City of Greater Dandenong on 8571 1538 so that records can be updated.

Please note that immunisations are considered an essential service and the secondary school program is still allowed to proceed under the current restrictions.  If you live more than 5km from the immunisation venue listed above please note that you are allowed to travel to that venue for the purpose of receiving the immunisation for your child.

If you have any queries you can contact Jodie at the City of Greater Dandenong Council Immunisation Team on 8571 1538.
