Farewell from Mrs Rowley

Dear Parents,

It is with a sense of both sadness and excitement that I’m writing to you, to let you know that I will be leaving St Anthony’s at the end of this year, to start a new position of Principal, Our Lady of Fatima, Rosebud in 2021.

In the three years that I have been Principal at St Anthony’s, it has been a great privilege to have been part of the wonderful community that makes our school such a beautiful and unique environment.

It has been an honour to work with the teachers, leaders, students and parents of St Anthony’s and I am confident that the dedication and professionalism of our staff will ensure that St Anthony’s continues to grow as an environment for you and your children ‘where everyone will flourish and be known’.

After a year which has given me much cause for thought about my family and my local community on the Mornington Peninsula, I have made the decision to accept a position closer to home – where I can work as a part of my local community and parish; where I can be closer to my family; and where ultimately, I can spend more time with my family. St Anthony’s will always occupy a very special place in my heart – alongside its students and their families.

There is still much work to do here for the remainder of Term 4. Please be reassured that this is my priority at this time and until the completion of the 2021 school year.

I wish you all the very best for the years ahead, and I look forward to staying in touch with St Anthony’s and its journey through the next phase of leadership.

St Anthony's is migrating to ICON

This is a new and centralised accounting and administration system. Myself and all office staff are in the process of a lot of new learning and workshops to ready us for this new system that will eventually make a lot of processes more streamlined. Please see an important message below from Karen and Jamil.

Dear Parents and Guardians

I wanted to give you some information around a few changes that may affect you as the school migrates to a new administration and accounting system over the next few weeks.

From the 16 October the school will enter a period of "black out" as we migrate to a new cloud-based accounting and administration system. Essentially what this means is that the office will have no electronic accounting system and for approximately 4 weeks and will be recording all accounting transactions manually until the new system is available .

In this time, the office will not be able to give you an electronic or computerised receipt for any bus or school fees or for any uniform purchases. With this in mind, our preferred method of payment, if possible, is for families to make any fee payments electronically through your internet banking platform (please identify your payments using your account number and last name).

We understand this is not always the preferred method of payment for many families so the office will still be able to take cash and credit card payments but can only provide you with a receipt from our receipt book (with the view to processing the receipt against account balances once ICON is live).

Given we will have no computer system, unfortunately we will not be able to issue any up to date statements, change addresses or telephone numbers, nor accurately provide fee balances at this time. We ask for your patience during this process as there will also be a period of catch up after we are up and running to transfer all transactions from October 16 into the new system. We are confident this will not affect too many of you and we will be up and running as quickly as possible.

Drop off and pick up procedures P-2. And 3-6

Please anticipate some hold ups in the morning and afternoon as we get used to our staggered drop offs and pick ups. We are doing our best every day to adjust and change and adapt and we will not always get it perfectly right.

Please remember that we are all in this together and it may be a busy time especially in the front car park. I know that together we will all show each other the greatest kindness and respect at all times. There is no other way.

PLEASE NOTE THAT STAFF ARE NOT ON DUTY TO SUPERVISE UNTIL 8.20AM. IF YOU REQUIRE SUPERVISION PRIOR TO 8.20AM YOU WILL NEED TO ACCESS BEFORE SCHOOL CARE.

Please do not stress if shoes do not fit. Until you can purchase better fitting shoes, please wear sensible alternatives such as runners.

Please remember the school hat.

Please pack a drink bottle of water.

Expect excitement, questions, worry, confusion, tiredness, anxiety and a mixed bag of feelings and please be reassured that we are ready for anything and will do our best to ease the fears and worry.

Welcome to the following staff for Term 4

We would like to welcome Biljana Vanovak who is back with us in Term 4 as a teacher. Biljana left her role as Learning Support Officer at the end of Term 1 to finish her studies. Biljana has been helping out with the onsite learning supervision and from this week she is a 5/6 support teacher for 3 days of the week.

Welcome also to Jade Sobolski who will be working some extra days adding a later of extra support to the Level 3/4 team 3 days of the week.

Welcome back to Maggie Collins who resumes her role as class teacher 5 days per week in place of Georgia Kounoupis. Georgia remains on extended leave until the end of the year.

We also keep Jane Viola in our prayers as she takes the time to care for her mother for the next few weeks.

Ellis Warrener will also be adding some support to the 3/4 team in addition to her 2 days in Level 5/6 and creating our Virtual Assemblies and we also acknowledge Mary Harper and Laraine Rodriquez who will be supporting the Prep and 1/2 teams in Term 4.

We hope to be able to offer as much support as possible as our learners return so that we can design and offer small group explicit teaching opportunities for everyone.

Congratulations

We have welcomed two new babies over the COVID period to the St Anthony's community. A beautiful little sister named Summer for Deacon in 3/4BA. Congratulations to Mealea and Kyle. We also welcome a little brother for Levi in 1/2WE. Welcome to the world Treon and congrats to Kelly and Vu. Congratulations also to Summer-Rose in 3/4BA. Summer-Rose's family welcomed a little sister on Thursday named Sista.

Every day counts - even during remote learning

Please remember that the roll is marked daily and attendance is a requirement. Remote learning has concluded. Coming to school everyday to learn is an absolute necessity, so is checking in every day online during remote learning. Our students cannot learn effectively if they have a significant number of days off, or even if they are regular late comers. Make sure you get behind Every Day Counts!!

Each day of school missed makes a difference, with the effect on learning accumulating over time. From an early age, if children are taught that they need to 'show up' for school and make a commitment, this positive mentality aids academic and career success and brings benefits in adulthood.

TO MAKE THE MOST OF THEIR POTENTIAL NO CHILD SHOULD MISS MORE THAN 2-3 DAYS OF SCHOOL PER TERM.

If your child is going to be absent from school, please call the school office on 95460044 by 9.00am. Alternatively, you can email the school to notify of your child’s absence at office@sanoblepark.catholic.edu.au, or log the absence via the link on the website.

If we do not receive notification of an absence by 9.30am we are required under regulations to message you at home or work to follow up the absence. Please notify the school of all absences. Please note that prolonged absences without notification will be followed up. Many days absent from school does impact on student learning and programs designed to support students.
