National Family Reading Month
MAY IS NATIONAL FAMILY READING MONTH - this month please take the time to read with your children, share a storybook or tell them a story you know yourself.
Reading aloud and sharing stories with your child is a great way to spend time together. Reading and storytelling also helps promote language, literacy and brain development.
May 4th - Star Wars Day - May the fourth be with you! Bring your favourite book to school and have your photo taken with a storm trooper in the library at lunchtime!
Tuesday May 19th - Friday May 22nd - Celebrate Education Week. Come in and visit the library between 8.30 am - 9am or 3.30pm - 4pm to purchase books from tour book fair.
Donate a book to the library as well and have a special plaque inside the book with your name on it!
Wednesday May 20th - 7pm - 8pm - School Open Night. The library will be open for Book Fair purchases during Open Night.
Wednesday May 27th - National Simultaneous Storytime - National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual event that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. It aims to promote the value of reading and literacy using an Australian Children's book and is read on the same day throughout Australia in local libraries and schools in over 3,000 locations with over 450,000 participants at the same time!
This year's book is "The Brothers Quibble" by Aaron Blabey.
