Middle School

SHARRON FRAME

Acting Head of Middle School

The term ends in Middle School with camps for year 7, 8 and 9, and a special program for Year 6. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff of the Middle School for all their attention to detail and their time, to ensure that these experiences will not only be enjoyable, but memorable for those who attend. My first few weeks as the Acting Head of Middle School have been very enjoyable and busy. Learning student names and familiarising myself with details has challenged me to Reach New Heights, and become part of the Middle School community. It is interesting how many siblings I know, but getting to know the younger students has been a pleasure.

Harry Potter Fan Club

Congratulations to the members of Gryffindor House (Year 6), who won the Hogwarts’ House points competition on Friday September 6th. A number of staff arrived ready for the competition dressed as their favorite Harry Potter character, much to amusement of the students. We even had Professor Dumbledore (aka Principal, Mark Robertson), arrive at lunch time to announce the winner. Thank you to Harry Potter look alike, Martin Costello, for organising the event.

Year 9 City Experience

Although this camp continues in week 10, the students of Year 9 have already had two days of activities linked to this program. Students participated in an amazing race activity to learn how to get around Melbourne, as well as the chance to attend the theatre, to see a performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. From all accounts the visit to the theatre was a highlight!

Year 7 2020 Welcome Morning

Last Friday our current Year 6 students combined with new enrolling students for the Year 7 2020 welcome morning. Parents learnt more about the Year 7 program and what lies ahead for their children at Oakleigh Grammar, and they were taken on an in-depth tour of the School, stopping by to join their children in the classroom as they participated in specially designed classroom activities. Students mixed and worked together collaboratively to produce mission statements for their first days in 2020. Students will return in December for a second transition day, with more introduction to Oakleigh Grammar.
