Year 12 Formal award winners
Firstly, I would like to congratulate our students and staff for their work and achievements for this term. We had a very busy term and as a school community, we have achieved and reached milestones through the dedication and commitment of students and teachers alike.
The term was packed with many activities and programs that have drawn our school community together as a strong team. Our swimming carnival demonstrated strong House spirit.
We celebrated another Year 12 milestone with their School Formal which was held at the Leonda by the Yarra on Friday 11th March. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the support of the Year 12 student leaders in the organisation of this Formal.
The photos from the Year 12 Formal have been on display on the ground floor at JMSS. Visit “Happy Medium Photos” online at www.happymedium.com.au. Our online gallery access code is jh1103si and you can order and pay online.
Photograph orders will be ready for collection at school on Tuesday 12th April 2016. Orders can also be placed on this day, or you can contact Happy Medium on 9421 5668.
The VCE Parent Forum was conducted on Wednesday 16th March. More than 300 parents and students attended on the evening. The purpose of the evening was to share strategies and ‘tips’ with the parents for them to support their child for a successful VCE learning journey. The evening’s program also included a ‘Question & Answer’ session with a panel that comprised Alumni students, parents of our VCE graduates, JMSS school psychologist, and VCE teachers.
I would like to thank the following panel members for their support of the evening’s program:
Dr Robyn Whittle (Vice President of School Council);
Mr Zoran Vasic (parent member of 2015 School Council);
Lakshanie Wickramasinghe (Alumni 2012, School Captain);
Santino Raftellis (Alumni 2015, Flannery House Captain);
Ms Kathy Li (School Psychologist);
Mr Andrew Chisholm (Assistant Principal);
Mr Ashley Van Krieken (Manager of Strategic Partnerships).
It was a successful evening. Thank you to all the parents and students who attended.
The Interact Club was chartered by the Rotary Club of Clayton in 2011 and since then the membership has grown immensely. There are two sub-committees in the Interact Club: the Local Committee and the International Committee. Both the Committees work on fund-raising projects to support the local and international communities.
I would like to thank the 2015 Board Executives of the Interact Club for their excellent work last year and congratulate the following students for being elected as 2016 Board Executives for the Interact Club.
President: Nisura Weerakkody;
Vice President: Emily Qiao;
Treasurer: Nathan Washington;
Secretary: Elizabeth Punshon;
Local Committee Director: Elmira Cheung;
Local Committee Vice Director: Amanda Chhoeu;
International Committee Director: Kshitij Sharma;
International Committee Vice Director: William Stamp.
I wish all students and their families a great Easter break. I hope students will have a well-deserved rest and come back to school in Term 2 feeling ‘recharged’ and invigorated.
Term 2 will commence on Monday 11th April.
Students are reminded that they are to be in winter uniform for Terms 2 and 3.
