Sports Day
A reminder that our Annual Sports Day is coming up on Thursday 22nd September.
This event is always a highlight of the year and we look forward to seeing as many families and friends as possible on the day. Don’t forget to order your lunch through the school canteen!!!
A reminder also that the day following Sports Day (Friday 23rd September) is a School Closure.
Pokemon Free Week
Next week the school will have a Pokemon free week! We have been dealing with quite a few issues relating to Pokemon cards and unfair trading. We often tackle these issues through working with the students and use it as a learning opportunity. We also remind students not to bring valuable items to school.
Book Week Parade
On Friday last week, we celebrated Book Week with a parade of characters from our favourite books. It was great to see so many of our children involved, with a great deal of effort going into the costumes by parents and families.
It was also fantastic to see staff so involved. Look out for some of the photos in this newsletter.
NAPLAN Results
Individual NAPLaN results were sent home to families last week. Since receiving the results, leadership have begun to analyse the data in relation to our Year 3, 5 & 7 students. Over the coming weeks, teachers will begin to identify areas for improvement, both individually and as cohorts.
The following is a very brief summary of percentages of students at Largs Bay who met the National Minimum Standard in Reading, Writing, Spelling & Numeracy.
Year 3 | Year 5 | Year 7 |
Reading – 94% Writing – 98% Spelling – 89% Numeracy – 96% | Reading – 90% Writing – 94% Spelling – 94% Numeracy – 96% | Reading – 91% Writing – 90% Spelling – 95% Numeracy – 98% |
Grievance Procedures
We have had a few incidents where students have been approached by other parents in the school yard and question them about various incidents that may have occured.
We ask that all familes adhere to the LBS Grievance Procedure and policy and refer issues to the class teacher and/or leadership staff to investigate and deal with.
Scholastic Book fair
Thank you to everyone who supported the Scholastic Book Fair. Special thanks to the Parent Help Group who set up and managed the fair. The school raised approximately $2000 which will be used to purchase new readers.
