Literacy & Numeracy

YALP
In 2017 our intervention program assisted twenty-five Year 9 students and forty-one Year 8 students who received one-on-one literacy or numeracy support and in class support to help bridge the learning gaps at Shepparton High School.
As well as students on the program improving their literacy and numeracy, we also saw a great improvement in student’s self-confidence while in the classroom. For the thirteenth year, intervention in literacy and numeracy was provided for students at Shepparton High School following the YALP principles.
Here are some responses from Students on what they liked about the program this year:
'I improved my English skills in a short amount of time with my tutor.'
'It helped me with my spelling and reading.'
'She really helped me understand all the things I needed help with.
'My tutor helped me a lot and didn't make me feel uncomfortable if I didn't know the answer. She would talk me through it to help me understand better'
'It helps me keep up in class when I'm struggling.'
As the year comes to an end we give a massive thank you to Kylie Glover and the Shepparton High school team for making this program possible, and congratulations to the tutors for their dedication and hard work throughout the year.
