Principal's News

Dear Parent and Carers,

Welcome back to term 3!

I wanted to start this newsletter by highlighting how proud I am of our school community.

You have all been supportive and understanding of our increased COVID guidelines.

We are still able to operate fully, but with some greater restrictions than we have had for the past few months.

There will be an update to these restrictions in the coming weeks. I am praying that it is positive news, but we will find out in time. We will continue to operate under the same guidelines as were published at the beginning of the term.

Stage 3 Excursion

Unfortunately, due to the change in restrictions, we have had to postpone our Stage 3 excursion. We are currently trying to organise another excursion to Canberra in term 4, however, if this is not possible, we will be looking for alternative venues.

More information about this will be communicated in the coming weeks.

ADPSC Cricket Trials

Congratulations to Levi Browning, Oscar Crockett, Charlie Haire, Edwina Keft and Max Vogel who travelled to Tamworth to participate in the ADPSC Cricket Trials.

A special mention to Edwina Keft, who was successful in gaining a place on the Armidale Diocesan Cricket team to compete in the coming weeks in Lismore.

Summer Uniform Survey

Thank you to those who provided feedback for our current Summer Uniform. The survey is still open via Compass to those that have not had an opportunity to contribute.

RealTalk

Thank you to those year 4 & 6 parents who attended the online zoom parent session on Tuesday 20 July. It was an informative event. Our Year 4 & 6 students also found the sessions on Wednesday engaging and informative. We look forward to welcoming RealTalk back again in 2022.

High Jump

Due to today’s weather conditions, we were unable to conduct our High Jump trials. This has been rescheduled for next Monday 26 July.

Students will be required to wear their sports uniforms this day. I understand that wearing the sports uniform for 4 days next week is a big ask, especially how long it takes clothes to dry in this weather. On Thursday, when we are at Cook Oval, students are encouraged to wear either blue or red to support their school house.

Please note that if you are unsure about which sporting house your child is in, St Joseph's (blue) or St Andrew’s (red), this can be found on their profile via Compass.

Athletics Carnival Events

Please note that we are not able to have parent spectators onsite for High Jump on Monday 26 July,  Shot Put and Discus at school (students 8 and older only) on Wednesday 28 July or the Races and Long Jump on Thursday 29 July. After these events have concluded, we will share photos via Facebook and live stream the awards presentation via Facebook on Friday 30 July.

It is unfortunate that we have had to restrict spectators to our athletics this year, but to abide by our COVID regulations this was a requirement.

Christmas in July & Raffle Tickets

The St Joseph's P & F have decided to postpone the Christmas in July celebrations until further notice. In the meantime, could all raffle tickets sent home at the end of the last term, sold or unsold, please be returned to the school by next Friday 30 July. We will reissue some extra tickets in a few weeks time as a part of our ongoing school Fundraiser. On the last day of term, Friday 17 September, we will live stream the ticket draw via Facebook.

God Bless,

Alistair Stewart
