Liberating Education

John 10:10:

"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

Liberating Education Prayer

Loving God, help us to open the hearts and minds

of the young people in our school

to the vision of compassion and humanity

that you desire for all in creation.

May our school use education as a tool of liberation,

not just for our students, but for all

who desire to live life to the full.

Winter Appeal

Thank you for all your donations which have been gratefully received.  The goods collected have been forwarded to St Vincent de Paul and those for Jesuit Refugee Services will be taken this week.

Year 5, 6, 8 & 10 Reports

Year 5, 6, 8 & 10 Reports have been issued on the Portal this afternoon.  If you have any problems accessing the Portal, please email portalhelp@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au.

Years 5 – 10 Parent/Teacher/Student Meetings Online

This Thursday afternoon and Friday are important meetings for parents, students and teachers with healthy discussion, feedback, commendations and re-direction. I recommend that where there needs to be more substantial discussion, please feel free to make a follow-up time with the teacher.

End of Term

The term will end for students in Years 7 – 12 at 12.00 pm with interviews for Years 7 – 10, commencing at 1.30 pm on Thursday.  Students are to travel straight home and must not linger in the Chatswood precinct.

Years 5 & 6 will conclude at the normal time after the completion of their activities at Oxford Falls and then being dismissed on their return to the College.

CIS Cup Semi Final

Students and staff are busy preparing to be our supporter crowd for tonight’s CIS Cup Semi Final for our 1st XI Football team.  Students are travelling via bus to the event and expect to arrive back at the College at approximately 9.00 pm tonight.

It is such a wonderful achievement to again be in the semi-final of this event.  The 1st XI won this cup in 2019, and unfortunately the competition was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID.  We wish our 1st XI Football team, and coaching staff of Mr Steve Quilty, Mr Simon Yue and Mr Richard Lacey, well tonight.

Holiday Tour Groups

Best wishes to our tour groups this holiday.

  • Red Dirt Immersion (Social Justice Expedition) to Bourke, Brewarrina, Walgett, Coonabarabran and Dubbo to visit the Schools, Towns and Aboriginal communities of Rural and Remote North Western NSW
  • First XV Queensland Rugby Tour
  • Junior School Football Tour to Tamworth

Also occurring over the break is the 1st XI Football July Cup and Rugby and Football Clinics at Oxford Falls, plus the generosity of staff who are holding extra classes for our Year 12 students. I thank the many staff who are involved. The students are very fortunate and appreciative of these opportunities.

Year 12 HSC Trials

Year 12 are studying very solidly at present. The assessments completed, they are now building their momentum for their HSC Trial Examinations that commence in Term 3 Week 3. These holidays are significant study periods for our young men as we encourage them to have a plan of quality study time along with suitable rest breaks. Please keep our students in your prayers.
