Principal's News

Dear Parents / Carers,

This week sees the end of Term 2,  and while we did have to navigate another short lockdown it was another big improvement on 2020.

School will conclude at 2:25pm this Friday, June 25th.

The children MAY wear Casual Clothes to school on Friday.

We are again hoping to provide the children with a hot dog and drink for lunch on Friday. (Fingers crossed).

Parents who have children in Grade 6 are invited to help us with the preparation and distribution of the hot dogs. All profits from the hot day go towards reducing the cost of the Grade 6 camp to be held in November.

LONG SERVICE LEAVE I am taking Long Service Leave next term. Parents will be aware that this past year or 3 have been pretty tough on me personally, and I am proud to say these events have left scars on me that I will carry forever.

However, it is apparent that I need to take a bit of time to look after myself in order that I can be the best I can be for this community going forward.

So, I will be away from school for all of Term 3. I am looking forward to travelling around Australia with a team of mates who are completing different legs of the trip with me.

The school is in the excellent hands of our Superstar Deputy Principal, Mrs Daffy. Ms Lynch will step up into the Deputy Principal’s role during my absence.

I know our staff will do their very best to support Jane and Nic while I am away and I know parents too, will get in behind Jane, who I freely describe as “the best teacher I have ever seen.” - So please look after her, a rare treasure amongst us.

GRADE 5 CAMP After a couple of false starts, our Grade 5 children are heading up to Sovereign Hill tomorrow morning for a two night camp on the Goldfields of “balmy” Ballarat. Staff and children are all excited by the prospect of taking their studies out of the classroom. If the pandemic has any upside, we hope that it teaches us to all appreciate the simple things like School Camps and Hot Dog Days that we have taken for granted for so long.

The campers will be back at school on Friday by 2:15pm, in order to catch school buses if parents so desire.

ASSESSMENT CONVERSATIONS Another simple enjoyment of school life that we have been missing is the friendly and helpful face to face conversations between staff and parents and carers. While they are very long days for our teachers we were delighted with the attendance of parents at our Assessment Conversations and the support we are offered by parents for this important and tricky job that we are all committed to.

It is very powerful to have the children present at these meetings and to see that parents and teachers have the children’s best interests at heart and are united in this mission to provide our kids the very best educational opportunities and support that we can.

ENROLMENTS Parents that have submitted an Enrolment Application for a Prep student for 2022 will receive their offer of a position at Sacred Heart this week.

SKOOLBAG Sacred Heart will no longer be using Skoolbag as a means of communication. To advise Absentances, please do so via PAM. To advise changes to End of Day routine, (only to be used for current day) please email: endofday@shcolac.catholic.edu.au.
