Hi everyone!

PLEASE BRING IN YOUR LIDS!

A reminder that Lucy and Adelia from 5/6MG are beginning a lid collection project, where they will collect, sort and send your lids to Rethink Recycling Co-op. It shocked us to learn that the lids from plastic borrles, shouldnt be put in our recycling bins, and when we leave them on the bottles, it contaminates that recycling load. Rethink saves them from landfill by making them into other products. Please rinse the lids before bringing them in.

Please bring in your bottle lids - e.g. from milk bottles. They should have a 2 or 4 displayed under the lid.

Gardening Fun!

Today our garden gave us the perfect opportunity to talk about the life cycles of plants, as our silverbeet, bok choy and parsley have “bolted” (grown very tall) and started to grow seeds. We have left some of our plants to grow seeds, which we will collect and save, ready to plant again next year. We picked 4 more purple carrots - they were very funny shapes! We also took home lots of silverbeet. We are really hoping our strawberries will grow some delicious fruit in the next few weeks.

We would love to see any photos of our produce taken home being included in your dinner!  If you take a photo, please send to bnechwatal@tcs.catholic.edu.au.

Things we need!

Wooden spoons - to make decorative plant labels for our vegetable gardens.

Nude Food

5/6MG WINS Nude Food this week, with 20 rubbish free lunches. They were followed by 3/4 TR with 18, 3/4 BO’C with 17, 1/2MB and 1/2UR with 13and Prep CD with 8 lunches with noi rubbish. Well done!

Some yummy ideas - a sandwich/wrap/roll, pasta with vegetables, soup, frittata or sushi, a fruit or vegetable snack, such as whole fruit, cut up veggie sticks, fruit or savoury kebab or a small salad.

There is a great booklet of ideas here
